For my image transfers/monoprints I’m always looking for used Vogue magazines. But I use only a few pages from every issue. Now I have big piles of magazines and thought about how to use those for my art.
As I don’t like to incorporate magazine pages in my large collage work, because the paper is thin and don’t work so well with the wallpaper paste I use, I need to find another way to use these magazines.
I flipped through the magazines and picked/cut images which looks interesting to me. Now I will try to do small collages using these images. This is like a challenge for me because usually I don’t use such images for my collage work.
I will write a bit about why I like to challenge me every now and then in my next post.
P.S. Another tip:
The magazine covers are great for cutting stencils for monoprinting with a gel plate! The paper is glossy and less absorbent than other paper and it’s easy to cut even though it’s strong enough for using the stencil several times.
So, use up your stuff and keep creating!
