You love collecting beautiful papers, vintage ephemera, and interesting textures for your mixed media collages. You have good instincts and create with passion – but something often feels “off” about your finished pieces.
Maybe your collages feel cluttered, or they lack the harmony you see in work you admire. You can sense when a composition isn’t working, but you’re not sure why or how to fix it.
You want to make confident creative decisions without rigid rules that kill your artistic spirit. You’re looking for that “aha!” moment where you finally understand what makes a mixed media collage truly come alive.

I’m Lydia Rink – a visual artist, teacher, and creative encourager based in Duisburg, Germany.
From my studio, I create intuitive, deconstructed compositions using handmade collage materials, monoprints, paint, and found objects. I’m passionate about helping artists like you combine a variety of elements into cohesive and meaningful works.
But I know it’s not always easy. Sometimes you have all the right pieces – but something still feels off.
That’s exactly why I created this course. Through gentle, hands-on practice, you’ll discover the essential principles that transform scattered elements into balanced, harmonious compositions.
My approach is all about intuitive learning – no overwhelming theory, just clear guidance to help you build confidence and trust your eye.
I love inspiring others to explore, play, and grow – and to discover their own artistic voice along the way.
I can’t wait to see what you’ll create.
Collage is a wonderful way to explore composition. It invites you to move things around, try out new arrangements, and make visual decisions without pressure.
Unlike a painted brushstroke or a drawn line, a piece of paper can be shifted, layered, replaced. You get to experiment freely – nothing is fixed until you decide it is.
This challenge gives you a space to study composition in a hands-on, intuitive way. You’ll learn to see relationships between shape, balance, contrast, and rhythm – and discover how to use them with confidence in your own work.
You can join at any time.
Once you sign up, you’ll receive access to Day 1 right away, and one new lesson each day for five days.
You decide when to begin – and how fast to move through it.
You’ll have access for 12 months from the day you join.
That gives you plenty of time to complete the lessons at your own pace and revisit them whenever you like.

“I’ve enjoyed this workshop very much, Lydia.
Because I’ve been working in collage for over 20 years, and have taught design, most of it isn’t new.
But it’s wonderful to see all of this information in one place, with the essential information available to young artists.
I hope you keep this course open and available as a service to the collage community. You’re a wonderful teacher and I’ve learned a lot from you over the years I’ve followed you.
You have a lovely way of presenting old ideas with fresh content and finding new ways of expressing through working with paper. You are so right in encouraging artists to assimilate the elements and principles of design in their composition work. So many haven’t studied them.
I also tell my students that the E&P are simply another kind of tools, necessary to know and to use freely as a composition aid. Principles bring action to the elements and show us different ways to use each element. And I believe that differences/contrast is the most important principle of all and apply it to every element in my own work.
I could go on, but mostly I want to compliment you on a great course and for your contributions to the art of collage.”
