Our contributing artists bring an exciting diversity of perspectives and techniques to the festival. Here’s the full lineup:

Julia Weston

Julia is a mixed media artist and creativity coach who works with acrylics, inks, collage, and found materials. Inspired by coastal landscapes and her daily walks, she incorporates elements of nature and her surroundings into her art.

Her engaging classes reflect Julie’s passion for sketchbook work and teaching.

Karen Stamper

Drawing from her coastal upbringing in Yorkshire, Karen creates evocative collages using found and painted papers. Her process of layering, sanding, and reconstructing materials results in textured, urban-inspired pieces.

Karen’s work has earned her numerous awards and recognition in the art world.

Julie Fei-Fan Balzer

Julie’s vibrant work explores identity and perception through layers of color, texture, and meaning. Based outside of Boston, she brings her expertise in printmaking, painting, and collage to MMF.

Jennifer Wilkin Penick

Based in Washington, DC, Jennifer explores patterns and repetition as a means of processing chaos. Her classes, designed for all skill levels, emphasize accessibility and creative exploration.

Jennifer’s teaching experience and artistic accomplishments make her an outstanding instructor.

Marabeth Quin

Based in Nashville, TN, Marabeth specializes in landscapes and abstract botanicals, focusing on resilience and self-compassion in art.

Her classes emphasize embracing imperfection and finding personal connection through creative expression, inspiring others to fully engage in their artistic journey.

Linden Eller

Linden combines memory and present experience in her delicate mixed media creations. Using paper, transparencies, sewing thread, and found materials, she celebrates sustainability and mindfulness.

Kim Hamburg

Kim is a self-taught artist whose journey began during the Covid lockdown. With a background in science, she embraces experimentation and creates intricate collages using vintage paper, paint, and ink.

Rebecca Chapman

Rebecca’s joyful mixed media work combines sketching, collaging, and photography with vibrant colors.

Lydia Rink - Your host for the event

I’m Lydia Rink, the initiator and host of the Mixed Media Festival, and I’m excited to invite you to join me in exploring the rich and diverse world of mixed media.

From my studio in Duisburg, Germany, I create intuitive, deconstructed compositions using handmade collage materials, monoprints, paint and found objects.

It’s my passion to inspire others to combine a variety of materials and elements into cohesive, meaningful works. With this festival, I want to spark your creativity, celebrate the beauty of mixed media, and bring us together as a vibrant, supportive community. Let’s make this an exciting and inspiring experience for everyone!

Frequently asked questions

The MMF is an online event where 10 mixed media artists share their techniques, processes, and inspirations through exclusive video lessons.

You’ll have access to all the lessons and supporting materials to learn, experiment, and create at your own pace.

A new video lesson will be released every other day for 20 days.

Once all the lessons are live, students can continue to access all the materials whenever they want.

The Mixed Media Festival goes on sale with early bird pricing starting January 20, 2025.

The official start of MMF25 is February 3, 2025, when the first video lesson becomes available.

You can purchase access until February 20, 2025, after which all lessons will be fully accessible for you to enjoy at your own pace!

Once the course begins, you will have access to the classroom and all materials for one year.

Yes! We have a private Facebook group where participants can share their creations, exchange ideas, and connect with fellow mixed media enthusiasts in a supportive and inspiring environment.

You can also use the hashtag #MixedMediaFestival when sharing your work on Instagram and other social media platforms.

This class is for anyone who loves mixed media art, whether you’re a beginner eager to learn or an experienced artist looking for new inspiration.

If you enjoy exploring new techniques, experimenting with materials, or being part of a creative community, this festival is perfect for you.

Each contributing artist provides a detailed supply list that you can download.

You’re encouraged to use the mixed media materials you already have and love working with.

There’s no need to buy anything special—just bring your creativity and an open mind!

 

 Lydia will be in the Classroom to answer specific questions and as part of the course you will be invited to join a private Facebook group, this is where you can share your work and ask for feedback.
