I think we all know such times when we want to start something new and don’t know where to start. Every now and then we come to a point where we need inspiration that hopefully leads us to new ideas.
But often it’s a huge challenge to find a new direction.
How to get inspired is very individual. But I think the process of being stimulated comes from taking action first.
In this course I will show you various starting points and I will guide you step by step through different techniques from working with mark making tools such as pencils, pigment sticks, graphite through to acrylic ink, paper collage and paint. We’re letting the materials and techniques develop and enjoying the process of making.
And we will use all of these explorations to create a beautiful accordion book filled with
interesting marks, colors, and collages that you can use as a source of inspiration for your future work.

I’m Lydia Rink, visual artist and creative encourager. I love creating abstract art and I’m a big fan of play and experimentation.
Together we’ll explore a wide range of materials and techniques.
From the simple beauty of pencil lines to the dynamic flow of acrylic ink, each lesson is a step toward unlocking your creative potential.
My greatest hope is that you will enjoy the process of creating to spark ideas and find your own path to develop your praxis.

– you want lo learn how to create a concertina book filled with it interesting & inspiring marks, colors and collage work which you can use as inspiration for future work.
I like to work on large sheets of mixed media paper (A2 size) 200gm2 but you can work in your sketchbook or on smaller sheets of paper as well.
Tools/Material
– pencils
– water soluble pigment sticks
(e.g. Art Graf tailor shape colored pigment sticks)
– colored pencils water soluble (e.g. Derwent Inktense)
– Caran d’Ache Neocolor II
– china marker (white)
– acrylic inks (I like to use Daler Rowney FW)
raw sienna, red earth, turquoise, indigo, olive green
– acrylic paint
– gesso
– stencils
– Adhesive: matt gel medium, all purpose glue, or your favorite glue
– tape 5cm (2”) wide, I use white paper tape
– cutting knife
I will be in the Classroom to answer specific questions and as part of the course you will be invited to join a private group, this is where you can share your work and ask for feedback.
